Terms of Service

These terms are between you and Eric Park, which operates SnailPostal (“we”, “us”). They apply whether you run a club here, subscribe to one, or just browse. By using the site you accept them.

There are two kinds of account: a club owner account for people who send mail, and a subscriber account for people who receive it. One email address can hold only one of the two. If you both run a club and subscribe to others, use a different email for each.

We are a directory and billing platform. We publish club pages, process recurring subscription payments through Stripe, keep each club's subscriber roster and mailing addresses, and let people find clubs by category, price, and shipping region.

We are not a mail carrier, a print shop, or a fulfillment house. We never hold a club's funds and never see a subscriber's card number. We do not inspect, approve, or guarantee what a club puts in an envelope, and we are not a party to the sale between a club and its subscribers.

You are the seller. You are the merchant of record for every subscription to your club. That means you own fulfillment, refunds, chargebacks, customer service, and any sales tax or VAT on what you sell. Charges appear on your subscribers' statements from your own Stripe account.

Describe the club honestly. Your page, tiers, prices, shipping regions, cutoff day, and capacity must reflect what you will actually send and when. If you mark someone as paying offline, you are confirming you received their payment.

Send what you promised. If you stop mailing, tell your subscribers and cancel their subscriptions rather than continuing to bill them.

Your content. You keep ownership of your text, images, and video. You give us permission to display and resize them for your club page, listings, search results, and social previews. Don't upload anything you don't have the rights to, and don't upload anything illegal or prohibited under the rules below.

Our fee. Listing is free. A 4.5% platform fee applies only to monthly subscription revenue above $100 — the first $100 each month is fee-free, and the fee is charged only on the amount above it. It is collected per invoice at the time of the charge. Stripe's own processing fees are separate and charged by Stripe. We may grant a club a higher fee-free threshold or a discount at our discretion, and we won't withdraw one for a period already charged. See pricing for current rates; we'll give notice before changing them.

We may remove a listing. If a club breaks these terms, stops fulfilling, or creates a real risk to subscribers, we can unpublish it or close the account. Where we reasonably can, we'll tell you first.

Your purchase is from the club. The club decides what it sends, when, and to where. Questions about a missing or damaged mailing go to the club first; we'll help where we can, but we can't make a club ship.

When you're charged. Nothing is charged at signup. Each club charges everyone on its cutoff day, and that payment is your place in the mailing that follows. Your subscription then renews on that same day each cycle until you cancel.

Canceling. You can cancel any time from your subscriptions page. Canceling stops future charges; a cycle you have already paid for is still sent. We don't issue partial refunds for a cycle already charged — ask the club if you think something went wrong.

Failed payments. If a charge fails we'll email you and Stripe will retry. Until it succeeds you aren't included in that cycle's mailing, and a subscription that keeps failing is eventually canceled.

Your address. Keep it current in your subscriptions page before the cutoff. We share it with the club you subscribe to so they can mail you — that is the whole point of the service. Mail sent to an out-of-date address is not refundable.

Don't use SnailPostal to:

• break the law, or sell anything you can't legally mail;
• impersonate another club or person, or claim an affiliation you don't have;
• take payment for mail you have no intention of sending;
• collect other people's personal data beyond what you need to fulfill your own club;
• scrape the directory, bulk-download listings, or resell our data;
• probe, overload, or work around the security of the site.

We can suspend or close any account that does these things, and we may keep records of the account afterwards where we need them for tax, fraud, or dispute reasons.

The site is provided as it is. We work to keep it available and correct, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted service, that a listing is accurate, that a club will fulfill, or that the directory will bring a club any particular number of subscribers.

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses — lost profits, lost subscribers, or the value of mail that never arrived. Where liability can't be excluded, ours is limited to the platform fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. If you run a club, you agree to cover claims brought against us that arise from what you sold, sent, or published.

We may update these terms; when a change matters we'll date this page and tell account holders by email. Continuing to use the site after that means you accept the new version.

You can stop using SnailPostal whenever you like — cancel your subscriptions, or ask us to close your account. We can end this agreement with notice, or immediately if you break these terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, and disputes belong to the courts of the State of California. If any part of this is unenforceable, the rest still stands.
